The Rollout

jones the grocer

client:

Founded in Australia in 1996, Jones the Grocer (jonesthegrocer.com) is a café and retail outlet specialising in hand selected specialty products, and featuring a signature walk-in cheese room, charcuterie and deli.  The group operates in 7 countries from its head office in the UAE.

engagement:

The management team of Jones the Grocer UAE acquired the global rights to the Jones the Grocer brand from Singapore-based L Capital Asia, the private equity arm of LVMH. Having completed that deal, the new group engaged Support Legal on a set monthly retainer to structure and assist with its multi-jurisdictional franchising strategy. We do everything from draft and negotiate franchising, licensing and development agreements through to managing the group's intellectual property matters. We also facilitate a quarterly Q&A and brainstorming session with senior management to discuss all strategy matters and to fine tune the franchising model.

what the client says:

"It's comforting knowing that we have lawyers on call who are not only experts in their craft but who also do not charge us in six minute increments like a traditional firm would. By de-linking time from their service, Support Legal are revolutionizing the practice of law in the region. The team's focus on value creation not billable hours, allows our company to engage with its lawyers as true business partners. We used to wait to engage our legal counsel until the last possible moment to save on costs. Now, for any matter of importance, a call to the Support Legal team is one of the first we make".
