Ebrahim Al Jassim, the founder of HungerStation (hungerstation.com/en), is a serial entrepreneur. Ebrahim founded Hunger Station in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and the company is now the leading online food ordering platform in the country.
Ebrahim engaged Support Legal to advise on the terms of a proposed merger with "Hellofood", a Saudi Arabian competitor owned by Foodpanda (at the time a Rocket Internet company). We structured the engagement as a transaction retainer; Ebrahim paid a fixed fee per month until the close of the transaction, giving him up front transparency on pricing. We advised across all aspects of the transaction and brought in trusted counsel to advise on the Saudi law specific aspects of the deal. We assisted in bringing the merger to a successful close and Ebrahim remained as the CEO of the merged company following completion.
"I had worked previously with a number of internationally-renowned law firms, but working with the Support Legal team was a completely different experience. A large barrier to trust between clients and lawyers is the billable hour. Support Legal's innovative model, with its emphasis on absolute pricing transparency, ensured that a strong dynamic of trust was established quickly between us. I also liked the fact that the founders are entrepreneurs themselves, understand what goes into building a business from scratch and were willing to take on risk (quite a rare thing to find in lawyers!) in relation to the fee structure we agreed. Overall I was very satisfied with the outcome Support Legal helped me achieve and I will continue to work with them in the future".
